Chocolate Cinnamon Chip Cookies

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Today I have a recipe that’s I have been wanting to make for a good while. Chocolate and cinnamon is one of my favorite flavor combinations and this cookie doesn’t disappoint. The cinnamon chips gives the cookies a warmth fitting for the colder months coming up or for a holiday cookie platter. I slightly altered my recipe for Chocolate Crinkle Cookies, which resulted in a cookie that was soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.

Snickerdoodle Cake

Happy November! If you need a recipe for a grey day, look no further. I must admit this cake was the result of a happy accident. I was attempting to make whoopie pies, but noticed they baked more like a cake than a whoopie pie. I put the rest of the batter in a cake pan and topped it off with some cinnamon and sugar and the cake became what it needed to be. This cake pairs well with a hot beverage and a lazy Sunday. This cake is both dense and light and the cinnamon sugar topping gives it a satisfying crunch and a punch of cinnamon.

Earl Grey Shortbread

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! We are officially in autumn and I am ecstatic to welcome back my favorite season. If you are looking some subtle-tea in your cookie to pair with a delightfully warm beverage, do I have a recipe for you! Admittedly I was hoping for a bit more of the earl grey to pull through, but I think it works out well for these cookies. They provide a welcome twist to the classic shortbread and goes well with a strong cuppa.

Pumpkin Pasties

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! It’s already halfway through September and I am so so ready for fall, despite the current weather hanging onto summer with all its might. I’m the kind of person to make pumpkin foods year-round, so it’s nice when it’s seasonally appropriate. If you’re looking to dive into the leaves of fall, try out these pumpkin pasties. The crust is nice and flaky and the filling is rounded out well with a medley of spices. It’s all topped with a sugar and spice mixture to give it an extra crunch. I recommend listening to the Harry Potter soundtracks while making these. It ads a certain, dare I say, magic to the whole experience.

Lemon Crinkle Cookies

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Here is a little recipe to brighten up your morning. I wanted to make one more summery recipe before going fully into fall mode and using cinnamon with reckless abandon. I wanted to squeeze a bit of summer into a crackle cookie before it completely went away and I’d like to think I accomplished that. These cookies are soft, not too sweet with a bit of tartness. If you want a quick lemon fix, look no further!

Sprinkle Layer Cake

funfetticake-1

Good Morning and Happy Saturday! It’s good to get back in a baking groove again. To celebrate doing this whole writing recipes and posting them thing that I’ve been doing for a year, I decided to make a triple layer funfetti cake. Turns out I let the cakes cool a smidge too long and opted not to grease my pans. Don’t be like me, grease your pans and you’ll have a smoother time baking this than I did. All baking mishaps aside, this it a cake that is a deliciously vanilla cake that is ready to party.

Happy Birthday, Dorothy’s House!

Holy buckets, I can’t believe its already been a year since I’ve started this thing! And that it’s almost fall! Both are very exciting facts in my book. I started this here blog because I wanted to give myself a reason to write recipes down and measure out what I was making. Before this, I would just measure with my eyeballs. For the most part that worked for me, but it didn’t always yield a consistent result. It’s been fun to share old and new recipes and make things I’ve never made before. 1 year and 28 recipes later and it’s still something I really enjoy. I’m excited for what’s to come. In the meantime, grab a cuppa and stay awhile. Go ahead and make yourself Grandma Ritter’s Coffee Cake. While you’re at it, why not take a gander at the most popular recipes from this year?

Vanilla Layer Cake with Strawberries and Whipped Cream

Good Morning and Happy Friday! Tonight’s the night of The Great British Baking Show Finals on PBS! I watched through it all the weekend the new season premiered and it was glorious. It was definitely what inspired me to make this cake. I ended up making this twice in one week because a) it’s super easy and b) I had a lot of heavy whipping cream to go use up. It’s sweet, but not too sweet and has a shedload of berries and cream.

Pumpkin Cupcakes with Marshmallow Creme Frosting

pumpkincupcakes-5

Good Morning and Happy Sunday! Though the flavors happening this week aren’t necessarily summer appropriate, I thought they’d spice things up a bit. It was a fantastic excuse to make my apartment smell like cinnamon. Not only that, but you get a bit of nutmeg, ginger, and clove to round out the pumpkin spices. To balance out the spices, I decided to pair it with a sweet marshmallow creme frosting. If you are looking for some creme cheese frosting, might I point you to the one in the Pumpkin Cutout Cookie recipe I posted in the fall?
