Good Morning and Happy Valentine’s Day! It feels good to be back making recipes again. I thought I would make a special post and share a recipe I originally made back in college. Though technically back then I didn’t use recipes, I think I was able to make something just as sweet. No matter if or how you celebrate Valentine’s day, it’s a wonderful excuse to have a bit of fun baking and share with the ones you care about. If you are looking for a dessert with a warm, chocolatey center to melt that special someone’s (or your own) heart, look no further!
Dorothy’s Test Kitchen
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
1 and 1/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 and 1/2 tsp vanilla
2 and 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 jar of nutella or chocolate hazelnut spread
1/2 cup sugar (for rolling)
Directions
Preheat your oven to 375 degrees. In a large bowl, mix together the butter and sugar until you get a light and fluffy texture. Mix in the eggs and vanilla until just combined. In a medium bowl, mix together your dry ingredients. Add the dry ingredients to the batter and mix until it all just about comes together. If you don’t feel like baking the cookies right away, you can cover the cookie batter and keep it in the fridge for up to a day. To prepare the cookies, grab a small ball of dough and flatten it in your hand until it’s about 1/4 inch thick. Drop a dollop of nutella in the middle of your dough and close the dough to make sure all the seals are cracked. Feel free to grab extra dough to cover open spots. Roll the dough into sugar and place approximately 2 inches apart on a lined cookie sheet. Bake for about 10-13 minutes at 375. Let cool on a wire rack for about 5 minutes.
